Solvang – A Danish Town in California

This is another short and sweet post, but I thought this place needed a blog of it’s own! On the drive back from our recent trip to Morro Bay and the California Central Coast we stopped off at Solvang. A friend had mentioned it was a nice place to visit, but I didn’t know what to expect.

Solvang is a Danish town in the Californian countryside, about 45 minutes from Santa Barbara. When I read that it had a Danish style, I thought this would mean one street looked a bit like Denmark, but no, the whole town is like this! The style of the buildings, the types of shops, the windmills, everything. It is such a random place, but actually really lovely.

There are a lot of Danish bakeries and Christmas shops, it really feels like you could be in Europe. We had a little walk around the town, but will definitely be heading back for a night as there looked like quite a few nice restaurant and wine tasting bars!
