Santa Monica & Venice Beach

My mum arrived on Thursday, she’s coming to stay for 2 and a half weeks. Kristian is back in the UK for some work stuff so my mum came out to keep me company. It’s so nice to be able to spend time with her after being a way for 4 months already. She also brought us lots of our favourite snacks from the UK (HELLO MINI EGGS) and belated Christmas presents!

We had one day with Kristian before his flight, so we made the most of it and headed to the coast for the day. It was pretty miserable weather where we live, but luckily the sun was shining in Santa Monica, although still pretty chilly. It is January I suppose. After some lunch and a little browse of the shops on 3rd Street Promenade, we walked to the famous pier and took a lot of photos!

I do have this thing with sunsets, and the Californian coast is a great place for them! After spending a fewΒ hours in Santa Monica we drove a couple of miles down the coast to Venice Beach, just in time for the sunset. It didn’t disappoint! We spent a little while seeing the sights of Venice, before tackling the LA traffic home.
