Sunny Sunday at Vasquez Rocks

Vasquez Rocks is a natural area park just north of LA. It’s pretty famous as it has been in lots of movies and TV shows (and a One Direction music video…). It’s only about a 20 minute drive from us so we packed up a little picnic and headed off for the afternoon.

We’ve driven past this area loads, as you can see it from the freeway that connects us to LA, but we haven’t been before. The scenery is really interesting, as the rocks all point upwards due to activity along the San Andreas Fault. A bit like at Devils Punchbowl which we visited in November.Β The area is huge and you can climb up on the rocks, which is fun when you have a dog who constantly pulls you on the lead.

It’s been pretty cold recently, so we wrapped up warm and threw coats, hats, gloves etc in the car. It’s amazing how much the temperature can change around here as when we arrived at the park it was 20C. It felt like a mid summers day, not January! The blue skies also made for pretty photos, so I took a lot, as usual.
