The Hollywood Christmas Parade is an annual parade that takes place on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the start of Christmas in the USA. I’ve never been to an American parade before, but it’s the kind of the thing you always see in films so we decided to head down to LA to see what all the fuss was about.
We found a spot fairly near the beginning on Hollywood Boulevard – we arrived about an hour and half early and realised we really didn’t need to so found a bar for beer and snacks first! I’ll be honest, the whole thing was pretty random! It started with the L.A.P.D. on motorbikes going up and down and weaving around, followed by fire engines with people on top throwing things out to the crowd.
This was followed by people driving lots of famous cars from movies, which was actually pretty cool and what most of these pictures are of! There were also different organisations with floats or carrying gigantic balloons, and high school marching bands. Most of it wasn’t that Christmassy and it lasted for ages. We got about 2 hours in and decided to call it a day, we’d seen a lot of it and decided to beat the rush to leave!! I’m not actually sure how long it did last, but I’m glad we went, we’ve been and we’ve seen!
