Stunning Sunset and San Diego Zoo

The Americans love their bank holidays! There are definitely more here than in the UK, which is great for us as it means more long weekends. November 11th is Veterans Day, so not everyone gets it off work, but the military do so we decided to get away for the weekend.

We’d had a stressful few weeks car shopping for our second car, which saw us at a dealership in Orange County, about half way between us and San Diego. We had to go back there as we had problems with the car, so after sorting it out we carried on down the coast to San Diego.

On the journey down we stopped on the beach for the most stunning sunset. I took hundreds of photos, this is only the tip of the iceberg!

We stayed in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego as we wanted to be central. It was so nice to be in a proper city for the weekend and this area is ideally placed for restaurants and bars etc.

I didn’t really take many photos, but we had a great weekend, eating good food and drinking cocktails in rooftop bars – San Diego has many.

We had been recommended to go to a restaurant called Phil’s BBQ; it was a bit out of town and had a queue longer than an hour wait, so we thought it must be good. It didn’t disappoint!

We did head to the zoo, where I got a few pictures of my favourite animals.
